Training of Indirect Binocular Ophthalmoscopy
Eyesi Indirect
Eyesi Indirect Ophthalmoscope is an advanced augmented reality simulator for training of indirect binocular ophthalmoscopy. With a comprehensive database of clinically relevant pathologies, Eyesi Indirect significantly extends the range of diagnostic training available in ophthalmology and optometry programs today.

Lifelike Training Environment
High-End Simulator
With a patient model head, two lenses, and a headmounted stereo display on an ophthalmoscope headband, the Eyesi Indirect simulator mimics all features of a real binocular indirect ophthalmoscope. When trainees put on the ophthalmoscope hat, they see a dynamic 3D simulation of a patient. To examine the patient’s retina, the lens has to be positioned correctly in front of the patient model head.
Standardized Curriculum
Self-Guided Training
Eyesi Indirect comes with a structured curriculum, designed for self-guided training of examination and diagnostic skills. By means of abstract cases, trainees hone their skills in ophthalmoscope handling and fundus documentation. For training of diagnostic abilities, Eyesi Indirect offers a range of characteristical clinical cases, which have been modeled in close cooperation with university clinics. The clinical cases come with detailed patient histories, multiple-choice questions, and additional diagnostic material. Students advance through the curriculum independently by completing the cases within a course.
Assessment
Feedback and Evaluation
Eyesi Indirect provides both trainees and educators with an objective performance assessment. Guidance elements and immediate feedback after each case help trainees to improve their skills systematically. Scored parameters include, for example, the percentage of retina examined, the light exposure, and the diagnostic accuracy. Required minimum scores ensure that trainees meet a standard skill level. By providing comprehensive training reports, Eyesi Direct also allows educators to assess their students’ skill acquisition.
