The Mannheim-based company VRmagic GmbH has changed the company form to a stock corporation to reflect its continued growth. With the new company form, the manufacturer of medical training simulators and cameras for industrial image processing has created the structural preconditions for expansion of its business activities.
VRmagic is a world leader in the area of virtual reality simulators for ophthalmological training. “In 2008, we are planning product diversifications into other medical fields. The modular design of our technology guarantees flexibility and allows fast development,” says Dr. Markus Schill, Managing Director of VRmagic.
Optical tracking systems and cameras for image processing in industry, medicine and science are a further business field of the company. The company has succeeded in gaining major customers from the fields of industry and science in the growing market segment of computer-based image detection.
The company Leonardo Venture GmbH & Co KgaA, also based in Mannheim, holds a 25 percent share in the high-tech company, which was founded in 2001. The company generates around a quarter of its sales revenue in the U.S. In the fall, VRmagic founded a North American subsidiary in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to take over sales and marketing of medical simulators locally.
