Project Aims at Establishing Research Database
At the Eyesi® Surgical user conference at this year’s World Ophthalmology Congress in Barcelona, the chairmen Jesús Barrio, University of Navarra, Spain and George Saleh, Moorfields Eye Hospital, United Kingdom, are introducing the idea of a European multicenter collaboration to network Eyesi training simulators. Aim of the project is to establish a database for research on performance standards in ophthalmic surgery training. The aggregation of training data by postgraduate year will allow European programs to compare performance levels across peer groups. Furthermore, analysis of large-scale data allows for evidence-based recommendations and standard guidelines for training in ophthalmology. The networking features of Eyesi Surgical simulators have been introduced in 2017. All European residency programs using simulator software version 3.0 or higher are called on participating in the project.
The Eyesi Surgical user conference takes place on Sunday, June 17, 12 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Fira Gran Vía, Conference Center 7, Room 7.1C.
