Two new USB cameras with a small form factor

VRmagic now offers two new USB 2.0 cameras with a small form factor in board and housing versions: the VRmC-8+ and VRmC-9+/BW. The board dimensions are 32x32 mm. The high-quality aluminum housing with outer dimensions of 36x36x27 mm has a C-mount connection for standard lenses.

The cameras are equipped with a ½-inch CMOS sensor with rolling shutter and also feature a standard mini USB B connection with high-speed USB 2.0 (EHCI), which is also used for power supply.

The color camera VRmC-8+ operates with the Bayer RGB matrix. The pixel size is 3.2 μm x 3.2 μm. Possible image rates are 13 images per second with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, 35 images per second with 1024 x 768 pixels or 50 images per second with 640 x 480 pixels.

The monochrome model VRmC-9+/BW has a pixel size of 5.2 μm x 5.2 μm. Possible image rates are 30 images per second with 1280 x 1024 pixels or 109 images per second with 640 x 480 pixels.

Like all cameras from VRmagic, the new models offer freely programmable exposure times, access to uncompressed raw sensor data, a latency-optimized software trigger, time stamps and frame counters, memory for nine user configurations on the camera, 24 kB memory for user data, e.g. calibration data, on the camera, as well as freely definable regions of interest. No additional frame grabber hardware is required for camera operation. Parallel operation of several cameras is no problem at all.

The scope of delivery includes the comprehensive Software Development Kit from VRmagic, including C API and freely usable demonstration source codes. The image processing libraries CommonVisionBlox, ActivVision Tools and Halcon are supported.
