VRmagic is the world-leading supplier of virtual reality baser simulators for training ophthalmologists. In a second business division, VRmagic develops and markets camera systems for machine vision applications.

 

Using state-of-the-art technology, Eyesi simulators from VRmagic offer an extremely realistic learning environment in which medical specialists can train their diagnostic and surgical skills on virtual patients. In many countries, Eyesi simulators are already an important part of ophthalmological training. A clear, practically-based and motivating man-machine interface is an essential part of such a teaching/learning system.

 

To strengthen our development team for new medical simulators, we are currently looking to appoint a

 

Physicist for surgical simulations.

 

Tasks

  • Development of real-time simulations of surgical procedures
  • Modeling and simulation of soft tissue behavior 
  • Interactions with virtual surgical instruments 
  • Fluid simulation 
  • Understanding, parameterization and adaption of in-house simulation libraries
  • Development and integration of new simulation algorithms 
  • Communication with medical experts

 

Requirement profile

  • University degree in physics 
  • Deep understanding of laws of mechanics and elasticity
  • Experience with modeling and numerical computation
  • Very good programming skills in C++
  • Profound knowledge of modern programming concepts, e.g. design patterns, templates, STL, Boost
  • Good understanding of processor-oriented optimization approaches
  • Desirable, but not required: experience in GPGPU programming
  • Creative problem solving ability
  • Team player with excellent, also interdisciplinary communication skills 
  • Fluent in German, good in English
