EYESi

EYESi is a highly sophisticated simulator for intraocular surgical training. The design of EYESi provides flexibility and ease of use. Training of cataract and vitreo-retinal surgery is possible on the same platform.

During simulated surgery, the surgeon manipulates realistic handheld instruments that are inserted into an artificial eye. The motion of the instruments and the orientation of the eye are picked up by highly accurate sensors and transmitted to a computer, which renders the virtual operation scenario into the EYESi microscope. The course of a simulated surgery is not predefined but depends on how the surgeon works.

EYESi´s modular design concept allows for adjusting the simulator to individual needs. An EYESi setup is comprised of the simulator platform, surgery interfaces for vitreoretinal and/or cataract surgery and simulation software modules. Exchanging the surgery interface is very easy and can be done in seconds. Simulation software modules provide the actual training content.
