Broad-based and structured curriculum

The eye surgery simulator Eyesi makes it possible to build up a broad-based and structured curriculum, leading trainees to expert performance.

Step by step to expert performance

In surgical simulation Eyesi gives trainees the opportunity to become familiar with the use of microsurgical instruments, proper parameter selection for OR machine settings, as well as effective use of the operating microscope before they actually enter the OR. The basic skill tasks of Eyesi are designed to develop psychomotor coordination of hand, eye and foot as well as spatial orientation inside the eye. A further advantage of Eyesi is that surgical procedures can be taught step by step.

Teaching at an appropriate level of difficulty

Each Eyesi training module offers different levels of difficulty. Courses can be individually tailored to meet the needs of trainees relative to their current skill level. Complications can be added under controlled conditions. In order to ensure a lasting training effect, surgical situations can be reproduced in defined identical settings. Eyesi’s easy accessibility guarantees the preconditions for effective training on a regular basis.

Keeping control of the surgical learning pathway

Eyesi training courses use scoring gates. A trainee can only advance through assigned courses after having met the required performance level. As a result, the educator is able to objectively assess the skills development of each trainee and control the surgical learning pathway. Objective evaluation provides the instructor with the necessary confidence in trainee ability before trainees actually enter the operation room.
