Modular DesignThe EYESi simulation platform comprises of a height-adjustable table unit, the virtual stereo microscope and appropriate foot switch, a high-resolution LCD screen and the main EYESi computing unit. Equipped with one of the available surgery interfaces this forms the required hardware. Surgery interfaces for the training of anterior and posterior segment surgery are available. An EYESi platform can also be furnished with both surgery interfaces, as they can easily be exchanged within seconds. Similarly each surgery interface comes with its own dedicated instrument sets. To further enhance the realism of virtual surgery for trainees hand activated forceps for both anterior segment and posterior segment surgery have been developed. Use and setup of EYESi is done intuitively: simply switch on the simulator and connect the interface and instruments through the instrument panel. Everything is Plug and Play. The surgery heads are automatically detected by the system and can even be exchanged while the EYESi is activated. The flexibility and ease of use of the EYESi platform allows for keeping the focus where it should be – on the quality of the medical education. |
