Drylab Events

In 2003 the Drylab was first established as a new format in practical ophthalmic surgery training. In contrast to conventional wetlabs where the trainee works on animal eyes, the Drylab utilizes virtual reality simulators to provide realistic surgical experience.

Drylab training surpasses the training value of wet labs. Only through an EYESi  drylab can a trainee repeatedly experience live tissue reactions that occur during surgery. The Drylab’s virtual ocular environment realistically depicts the red reflex from vascularity, anatomical structure, and physical behaviors of delicate tissues.

Participants of a Drylab start right were the training is needed; no valuable time wasted on the preparation of animal eyes. During a Drylab procedures such as the peeling of the internal limiting membrane or executing a capsulorhexis with optimal symmetry and radius can be repeated over and over again.

Furthermore the proficiency gained during the intense drylab experience can be validated through video play back and performance graph that EYESi allows mentor’s to export from the system.

With its high efficiency the Drylab is the method of choice when it comes to establishing  a more modern way of teaching surgical skills.
